Fall in Orange County is such a magical time of year. The days are still sunny and warm, but the evenings bring that crisp autumn feeling. Families start pulling out their cozy sweaters, planning Halloween costumes, fall festivals of course—visiting pumpkin patches. If you’re searching for some family fun and traditions, I’ve rounded up a guide to the best pumpkin patches in South Orange County. I added a few of my favorite Pumpkin farms in Orange County that combine festive fun with picture-perfect backdrops. These spots are wonderful for family outings, and they also make the best locations for capturing fall memories and snapping a few photos of your kids.

1. Tanaka Farms – Irvine

Address: 5380 3/4 University Dr, Irvine, CA 92612

Tanaka Farms is one of the most iconic pumpkin patches in Orange County. Families love coming back year after year for its wagon rides, corn maze, and petting zoo. The fields of bright orange pumpkins spread across the farm create a classic fall setting that feels straight out of a storybook. It’s not just a fun day for the kids, it’s also one of the most photo-worthy pumpkin patches in South OC. If you plan to visit, try going earlier in the day for smaller crowds.

2. Pumpkin City’s Pumpkin Farm – Laguna Hills

Address: 24203 Avenida de la Carlota, Laguna Hills, CA 92653

Conveniently located near the Laguna Hills Mall, Pumpkin City has been a family favorite for decades. This spot has more of a carnival feel, with rides, games, and a petting zoo for little ones. The colorful displays and playful atmosphere make it an easy stop if you want fun fall photos without leaving the city. It’s also a great choice for young children who may enjoy the rides and activities just as much as picking out a pumpkin.

3. Irvine Park Railroad Pumpkin Patch – Orange

Address: 1 Irvine Park Rd, Orange, CA 92869

The Irvine Park Railroad Pumpkin Patch is my personal favorite and one of the most popular pumpkin patches in Southern California—and for good reason! Located inside the scenic Irvine Regional Park, this pumpkin patch has everything from train rides and hayrides to a corn maze and festive games. The towering oak trees and rustic setting make it one of the most beautiful spots for family photos. Since it’s such a well-loved destination, weekends can get busy, so weekday visits are best if you want a more relaxed experience.

4. Zoomars at River Street Ranch – San Juan Capistrano

Address: 31791 Los Rios St, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675

Zoomars is full of charm and perfect for families with younger kids. In addition to pumpkins, you’ll find pony rides, train rides, and the famous guinea pig petting area that children absolutely adore. Located in the historic Los Rios District, Zoomars also offers a unique backdrop with its rustic ranch feel. It’s not just a pumpkin patch—it’s a sweet, hands-on experience where kids can explore and parents can snap some heartwarming photos.

5. Manassero Farms – Irvine

Address: 33 Irvine Valley, Irvine, CA 92618

Manassero Farms is a bit different from the larger, activity-packed pumpkin patches. Known for its farm stand and fresh produce, it also offers a seasonal pumpkin patch that’s cozy, relaxed, and perfect for families who want something simple. It’s a wonderful place to shop for pumpkins and seasonal décor while enjoying the charm of a local farm. If you prefer a quieter setting for fall family photos, this is a great choice.
