Fall in Orange County California is such a magical time of year. Even though we’ve had a warmer-than-usual fall this year, I’m still craving that “fall feeling” of pumpkin everything, crisp evenings, cozy sweaters and spice lattes!
I’ve included a few of my favorite Orange County pumpkin farms and pumpkin patches that combine festive fall fun with picture-perfect backdrops. Whether you’re looking for pumpkins, hayrides, fall activities, or simply a fun afternoon with the kids, these spots are great places to soak up the season.

1. Tanaka Farms – Irvine
Address: 5380 3/4 University Dr, Irvine, CA 92612
Tanaka Farms in Irvine is one of the most iconic pumpkin patches in the OC and it’s a favorite for families year after year. The 2026 Irvine Pumpkin Patch is filled with classic fall activities, including wagon rides, U-Pick vegetables, the Barnyard Educational Exhibit, and even a pumpkin cannon on select days.
The rows of bright orange pumpkins make it such a fun fall setting for kids and families. If you’re looking for a fun Orange County pumpkin patch that feels like a full fall experience, Tanaka Farms is definitely one to add to your list!
The Pumpkin Patch is open daily through November 1, with extended evening hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in October. Reservations are required, so be sure to grab your tickets ahead of time.
2. Pumpkin City’s Pumpkin Farm – Laguna Hills
Address: 24203 Avenida de la Carlota, Laguna Hills, CA 92653
Pumpkin City in Laguna hills has been a family favorite for decades. This spot has more of a carnival feel, with rides, games, and a petting zoo for little ones. The colorful displays and playful atmosphere make it an easy stop if you want fun fall photos without leaving the city. It’s also a great choice for young children who may enjoy the rides and activities just as much as picking out a pumpkin. Opens October 1st!
3. Irvine Park Railroad Pumpkin Patch – Orange
Address: 1 Irvine Park Rd, Orange, CA 92869
The Irvine Park Railroad Pumpkin Patch is my personal favorite and one of the most popular pumpkin patches in Southern California and for good reason! Located inside beautiful Irvine Regional Park, it has everything from train and wagon rides to a hay maze, carnival games, pumpkin decorating, face painting and more.
There’s something about Irvine Park Railroad that gives me that nostalgic 90s feeling of being a kid again. It has that classic fall experience I remember growing up with, and I love that it still feels that way today. The towering oak trees and rustic setting also make it one of my favorite spots for family photos.
The 2026 Pumpkin Patch runs through October 31, with reservations required on select weekends. If you can, I recommend going on a weekday for fewer crowds and a more relaxed experience. It’s definitely one of my favorite Orange County fall traditions.
4. Zoomars at River Street Ranch – San Juan Capistrano
Address: 31791 Los Rios St, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675
Zoomars is full of charm and perfect for families with younger kids. In addition to pumpkins, you’ll find pony rides, train rides, and the famous guinea pig petting area that children absolutely adore. Located in the historic Los Rios District, Zoomars also offers a unique backdrop with its rustic ranch feel. It’s not just a pumpkin patch—it’s a sweet, hands-on experience where kids can explore and parents can snap some heartwarming photos.
5. Manassero Farms – Irvine
Address: 33 Irvine Valley, Irvine, CA 92618
Manassero Farms is a bit different from the larger, activity-packed pumpkin patches. Known for its farm stand and fresh produce, it also offers a seasonal pumpkin patch that’s cozy, relaxed, and perfect for families who want something simple. It’s a wonderful place to shop for pumpkins and seasonal décor while enjoying the charm of a local farm. If you prefer a quieter setting for fall family photos, this is a great choice.
Tips for Visiting Pumpkin Patches in South Orange County
- Arrive early in the season for the best pumpkin selection and less crowded weekends.
- Visit on weekdays if possible—many of these spots can get busy closer to Halloween.
- Plan around golden hour if you want dreamy family photos with soft, glowing light.
- Check their schedule to see what time they open and close.
