Choosing the right newborn photographer for your growing family comes with a lot of thoughtful questions—and I totally get it! I believe in sharing all the details upfront so you can feel confident and comfortable before we move forward. Finding that perfect fit is so important to me. I often hear the same questions during the booking process and even after, so I figured—why not answer them all right here on the blog?

1. When is the best time to schedule a newborn session?
Ideally, we’ll set a date while you’re still pregnant—most families book in their second or third trimester. Once baby arrives, we’ll choose a final session date based on your recovery and comfort, usually within the first three weeks.
That said, older newborns are absolutely welcome! Sessions just tend to feel a little more alert and expressive, which can be really sweet. I take on a limited number of sessions per month and often book 6 to 8 weeks in advance, so early planning is key.
2. What if I deliver early or past my due date?
Totally expected! Once you have officially secured your newborn session, I will pencil you in on your due date. When baby arrives, just shoot me a quick email and we’ll pick a date that works for both of us. I keep room in my schedule for early or late arrivals.
3. What time of day do you photograph sessions?
For my Orange County families, I typically book weekday mornings around 10:30 AM, when the indoor light is soft and dreamy. If you’re in the Los Angeles area, I offer sessions there a couple of Sundays each month.
4. How long does a session last?
Newborn sessions are baby-led and super relaxed. They usually run about 1.5 hours, allowing time for feeding, soothing, and breaks when needed—no rush at all.
5. What should we wear?
Soft neutrals always photograph beautifully.
For moms: creams, off-whites, or soft florals are perfect. A casual midi dress or some comfy jeans/linen pants with a cream or white feminine blouse work well.
For dads: think light grey, tan, or cream—colors that pair gently with mom’s look.
For baby: I’ll bring a variety of neutral swaddles, but a simple white or knit fitted onesie is great to have on hand.
Try to avoid dark tones, bright colors, or busy prints. After booking, I’ll send over a guide to help with outfit planning!
6. Can our dog be in the photos?
Yes, please! I love including furry family members. As long as your pup is gentle and you’re comfortable, we’ll safely include them in a few shots.
7. Are siblings included in the session?
Absolutely. Big brothers and sisters are always welcome! And no worries if your toddler takes a little time to warm up—I have plenty of tricks to gently bring them into the photos in a natural, fun way.
8. What are lifestyle newborn photos?
Lifestyle photography is all about capturing your real life—candid, and connection-focused. These sessions happen in your home or outdoors, wherever your family feels most comfortable. I gently guide you into simple, relaxed moments instead of overly posed. No crazy props, just honest storytelling and love.
9 . Do you provide a client wardrobe?
Yes! I offer a small collection of dresses for mamas and I’m always happy to bring a few options to your session. It’s all included in your session—no extra fees. One less thing to worry about!
10. What if our home isn’t “photo perfect”?
No stress! I always find the best light—often in the main bedroom or nursery—and we work with what you have. Just tidying up a bit and minimizing background clutter is plenty. If you’re unsure, feel free to send over a few phone snaps beforehand and I’ll help you prep.
11. When will I receive my photos?
You’ll receive a sneak peek about one week after your newborn session, and your full gallery will be ready within 3 to 4 weeks. Every image is hand-edited with so much care to reflect your family’s story in the most authentic, timeless way.
Feel free to reach out with any questions! I’m always here to help.
